Hazelnuts

Hazelnuts are tree nuts that grow from the Corylus tree. They have a slightly sweet, earthy flavour & can be eaten raw, roasted or ground into a paste known as hazelnut butter. Hazelnuts have an excellent nutrient profile loaded with nutrients & healthy fats. They contain decent amounts of vitamin B-6, folate, phosphorus, potassium & zinc. Additionally they are a rich source of mono & polyunsaturated fats as well as omega-6 & omega-9  fatty acids. Hazelnuts also provide a significant amount of antioxidants which protect the body from oxidative stress that causes damage to cell structure resulting in ageing, heart disease & cancer.
